![]() ![]() ** If all the above is not a viable option for you and/or if you needed to remove the old drive to get the new drive to boot for some reason, then you can look at an M.2 external enclosure such as this one. If the new drive won't boot then try removing the old drive from the second slot and see if that works. so when you go to run the OS from the new drive ensure that you check in your UEFI/BIOS that the new drive is selected as the 1st boot device. ![]() There is also a video showing the procedure using Macrium (link on page from above but embedded video is only showing link on page) here:Īfter that you will move the new drive to the slot that the existing drive is currently residing in and move the old drive to the second M.2 slot noting that you will have to format the old drive as the same licensed OS on two drives will butt heads. ![]() Note that the version of Macrium Reflect Free available for download is currently version 7 but it will look pretty much exactly the same if different at all. If you are still able to boot from the problem SSD and able to install software then use Macrium Reflect Free to Clone the old drive to the new drive.Īt this point I am assuming that your new Samsung 970 is also an M.2 drive so in that case, you would insert the Samsung 970 into the M.2 slot beside the existing M.2 drive and then have a read of this article: ![]()
